A Month on the Road in Western Australia
Some of the best things in life happen on the road—windows down, boards stacked. Growing up in Western Australia, road trips weren’t just a holiday; they were the expected, every week, a way of life. From chasing waves to finding hidden gems along the coast, each trip added to the story that shaped my memories and, ultimately, what Digress represents.
Of hundreds of trips in the south west, I have selected one to share... one month away. I packed up the essentials—boards (moonshine 7.0, 7.6 softboard, 5.10 shortboard) a few clothes, pots and pans, water, bathers, the lot —and I set off on a road trip down the coast.
Without giving away all of the hidden gems, this is a guide for you to follow... experience it for yourself if it isn't something you often do.
Perth to Dunsborough & Yallingup
First stop, the southwest—Dunsborough and Yallingup. There’s a reason these spots are the go-to for any WA local. Yallingup dishes out perfection when the conditions align. Sunsets over Smiths will never get old. Having had a second home in Quindalup, it's always nice to go back.

Why These Trips Matter
Every road trip reminds me why I started this brand. It’s about more than just making hats—it’s about feeling happy and making memories. Moments that do not go to plan - like running out of fuel in the middle of nowhere turn into priceless memories you never want to forget. Each piece I create is inspired by these moments, the ones that leave sand in your car for years... literally. So here’s to the next trip. To loading up the car, heading south and finding whatever you find. Maybe you will come back with some stories worth telling.
